Today's Good News

AUGUST 19 – SIN

08/19          Romans 1:21-25

Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn’t worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused. 22 Claiming to be wise, they instead became utter fools. 23 And instead of worshiping the glorious, ever-living God, they worshiped idols made to look like mere people and birds and animals and reptiles. 24 So God abandoned them to do whatever shameful things their hearts desired. As a result, they did vile and degrading things with each other’s bodies. 25 They traded the truth about God for a lie. So they worshiped and served the things God created instead of the Creator himself, who is worthy of eternal praise! Amen.

SIN

Mankind is dead in trespasses and sin.  No one is righteous, no not one.  We are all in need of a Savior.  God sent His son that we might have life and that more abundantly.

AUGUST 18 – LOST

08/18          Romans 1:18-20

But God shows his anger from heaven against all sinful, wicked people who suppress the truth by their wickedness. 19 They know the truth about God because he has made it obvious to them. 20 For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.

LOST

The Lost are lost but God reaches out to them in the everyday activities of life.  You cannot say there is no God.  You cannot deny God’s reaching out to you.  But people do say there is no God and people do deny God.  All people are dead in their trespasses and sin and there is no other way to the Father except Jesus Christ.  Tell the Good News everywhere and to everyone.

AUGUST 17 – GOOD NEWS

08/17          Romans 1:15-17

So I am eager to come to you in Rome, too, to preach the Good News. 16 For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes—the Jew first and also the Gentile.  17 This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, “It is through faith that a righteous person has life.”

GOOD NEWS

The Good News about Jesus is a powerful weapon, giving power to the lost to recognize what God is doing for them.  This free gift from God is available to them by faith.  It will enable them to have real life.  It will give them light in the darkness.  The things in their life that are sinking them will be made right-new heart, new life.

AUGUST 16 – PEOPLE

08/16          Romans 1:13-14

I want you to know, dear brothers and sisters, that I planned many times to visit you, but I was prevented until now. I want to work among you and see spiritual fruit, just as I have seen among other Gentiles. 14 For I have a great sense of obligation to people in both the civilized world and the rest of the world, to the educated and uneducated alike.

PEOPLE

People count with Jesus.  All people count.  You count.  Make sure that the people around you know that they count.  Tell Jesus’ story and live it.

AUGUST 15 – GET

08/15          Romans 1:10-12

One of the things I always pray for is the opportunity, God willing, to come at last to see you. 11 For I long to visit you so I can bring you some spiritual gift that will help you grow strong in the Lord. 12 When we get together, I want to encourage you in your faith, but I also want to be encouraged by yours.

GET
Get with fellow believers as often as possible and remember to join them in worship regularly.  It’s important that we get together with one another to encourage each other and to sharpen our wits about living as a child of God.  The evil one is devious and we need every bit of help we can get to grow.  Also be sure to love one another.  This is critical for our joining together.

AUGUST 14 – SPEAK

08/14          Romans 1:8-9

Let me say first that I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith in him is being talked about all over the world. 9 God knows how often I pray for you. Day and night I bring you and your needs in prayer to God, whom I serve with all my heart by spreading the Good News about his Son.

SPEAK

Speak about Jesus to everyone.  He is Lord and worthy of all honor and glory.  We simply talk with others about our relationship to the Lord God of All.  Spread the Good News.

AUGUST 13 – YOU

08/13          Romans 1:5-7

Through Christ, God has given us the privilege and authority as apostles to tell Gentiles everywhere what God has done for them, so that they will believe and obey him, bringing glory to his name. 6 And you are included among those Gentiles who have been called to belong to Jesus Christ. 7 I am writing to all of you in Rome who are loved by God and are called to be his own holy people. May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace.

YOU

You believe that Jesus is God and as a result of your belief you are forgiven of your sin, rebellion against God, and have been brought into the family of God.  There is nothing that can separate you from the Father once you have become a member of His family.  Jesus is Lord.

AUGUST 12 – GOOD NEWS

08/12          Romans 1:1-4

This letter is from Paul, a slave of Christ Jesus, chosen by God to be an apostle and sent out to preach his Good News. 2 God promised this Good News long ago through his prophets in the holy Scriptures.  3 The Good News is about his Son. In his earthly life he was born into King David’s family line, 4 and he was shown to be the Son of God when he was raised from the dead by the power of the Holy Spirit. He is Jesus Christ our Lord.

GOOD NEWS

Jesus is the Good News.  He is God’s Son.  He lived a perfect life fully man, fully god and willingly paid the price for our sin-dying on the cross.  The Father raised Him from the dead and he is alive, seated at the right of God, interceding for us this moment.  Jesus is Lord and God, the Creator, providing life for those of us who believe in Him.  He is God’s everything.

AUGUST 11 – BELIEVE

08/11          Jude 1:24-25

Now all glory to God, who is able to keep you from falling away and will bring you with great joy into his glorious presence without a single fault.  25 All glory to him who alone is God, our Savior through Jesus Christ our Lord. All glory, majesty, power, and authority are his before all time, and in the present, and beyond all time! Amen.

BELIEVE

Believe in Jesus and He will keep you close.  Follow Him.  Praise and honor the Son of God.  Jesus is God’s everything.  Every-thing you need for living a Christ like life is in Jesus.  He is able.

AUGUST 10 – SUBMIT

08/10          Jude 1:17-23

But you, my dear friends, must remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ predicted. 18 They told you that in the last times there would be scoffers whose purpose in life is to satisfy their ungodly desires. 19 These people are the ones who are creating divisions among you. They follow their natural instincts because they do not have God’s Spirit in them.  20 But you, dear friends, must build each other up in your most holy faith, pray in the power of the Holy Spirit, 21 and await the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will bring you eternal life. In this way, you will keep yourselves safe in God’s love. 22 And you must show mercy to those whose faith is wavering.  23 Rescue others by snatching them from the flames of judgment. Show mercy to still others, but do so with great caution, hating the sins that contaminate their lives.

SUBMIT

Submit yourself to Jesus.  He is worthy.  Talk about what Jesus has done in your life and share with everyone you come into contact with.  Jesus is Lord and He will keep you safe and unwavering.
