08/18 Psalm 119:89-90
Forever, O LORD, your word stands firm in heaven. 90 Your faithfulness extends to every generation, as enduring as the earth you created.
NOW
We are now people. Our ancestors do not determine our relationship with the Lord. We determine our own relationship. Every tub sets on its own bottom. What we do in our relationship with the Lord Jesus is the determining factor for our membership in God’s family. Now is the time of salvation. Now is the time to get things right with the Lord.

08/17 Luke 6:46
“So why do you call me ‘Lord,’ when you won’t obey me? 47 I will show you what it’s like when someone comes to me, listens to my teaching, and then obeys me. 48 It is like a person who builds a house on a strong foundation laid upon the underlying rock. When the floodwaters rise and break against the house, it stands firm because it is well built. 49 But anyone who listens and doesn’t obey is like a person who builds a house without a foundation. When the floods sweep down against that house, it will crumble into a heap of ruins.”
OBEY
We want to obey the Lord. Establishing a pattern of obedience requires me to listen to the Lord, read His Word and then do what He says. This is a good habit and is a habit that is critical to our spiritual growth. The road to hell is paved with good intentions. Be a doer of the Word not just a hearer.
08/16 Luke 6:45
A good person produces good deeds from a good heart, and an evil person produces evil deeds from an evil heart. Whatever is in your heart determines what you say.
DO
What do you do in your daily life? Are you regularly in the Scripture? Do you have an appointed quiet time? Are you faithfully obedient to the Lord? Look at your life. A good heart is filled with Jesus. A good heart surrenders to our Lord and Master Jesus Christ.
08/15 Luke 6:43-44
“A good tree can’t produce bad fruit, and a bad tree can’t produce good fruit. 44 A tree is identified by the kind of fruit it produces. Figs never grow on thorn bushes or grapes on bramble bushes.
WHO
Who are you, the good tree or the bad tree? Look at your life. What are you doing? Are you honoring the Lord in obedience or are you living for self and following the world? This isn’t hard to figure out. You may be fooling those around you but you cannot fool the Lord.
08/14 Luke 6:41-42
“And why worry about a speck in your friend’s eye when you have a log in your own? 42 How can you think of saying, ‘Friend, let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye,’ when you can’t see past the log in your own eye? Hypocrite! First get rid of the log from your own eye; then perhaps you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend’s eye.
CRITICISM
Be careful how you live. Do not get into the habit of being critical or judgmental. The Lord says that He is the only one that knows fully what is going on and you do not. Too often we become critics, self-elected, to constantly critic our children, our spouse, our neighbors, our family and on and on and in the process forget that we aren’t the boss only God is. Be kind. Learn to keep your opinions to your self.
08/13 Luke 6:39-40
Then Jesus gave the following illustration: “What good is it for one blind person to lead another? The first one will fall into a ditch and pull the other down also. 40 A student is not greater than the teacher. But the student who works hard will become like the teacher.
WORK
It will take hard work to grow in Christ likeness. It’s not easy to stand in the face of evil. We know the Lord is with us and that He will give us power. Too often the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. Hard work. Hard work. Remember that and work hard at growing in Christ likeness. The Christian life is simple and difficult at the same time.
08/12 Luke 6:38
If you give, you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full measure, pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, and running over. Whatever measure you use in giving — large or small — it will be used to measure what is given back to you.”
STRANDED
Jesus will not leave you stranded. Have faith in Christ and He will stand by you. Do no fear the Lord is near and He loves you. Ask Him for HELP, commit yourself to obeying Him and He will do it. The Lord wants to bless you in the same way that you bless others.
08/11 Luke 6:36-37
You must be compassionate, just as your Father is compassionate. 37 “Stop judging others, and you will not be judged. Stop criticizing others, or it will all come back on you. If you forgive others, you will be forgiven.
FORGIVE
Forgive others. This will cover a multitude of sin by you and by the person you forgive. Jesus loves you and me and the person you are forgiving. Can we act any other way?
08/10 Luke 6:35
“Love your enemies! Do good to them! Lend to them! And don’t be concerned that they might not repay. Then your reward from heaven will be very great, and you will truly be acting as children of the Most High, for he is kind to the unthankful and to those who are wicked.
THINK
Think about what you are doing before you do it is important. We want to be a positive force for Jesus in the world and the way we act is a powerful message. Stop, pray and respond. Stop when someone does you wrong and go the Father in prayer for wisdom, mercy, grace and understanding. If you can take a few moments talking over hurt feelings with the Father you will be able to respond to the situation in a way that honors Jesus Christ. Life is real and we are a part of it. Grow in Christ likeness.
08/09 Luke 6:34
And if you lend money only to those who can repay you, what good is that? Even sinners will lend to their own kind for a full return.
RETURN
We look for monetary return or other types of return from everyone we make contact with. In truth, Jesus calls us to give to everyone we meet. We are to give and give and give. Do not let this get you down. Our heavenly Father keeps accurate records of what we need. Trust Jesus and help the folks around you. You are the only Jesus many people will ever know.
