8/01 1 Thessalonians 5:1-3
I really don’t need to write to you about how and when all this will happen, dear brothers and sisters. 2 For you know quite well that the day of the Lord will come unexpectedly, like a thief in the night. 3 When people are saying, “All is well; everything is peaceful and secure,” then disaster will fall upon them as suddenly as a woman’s birth pains begin when her child is about to be born. And there will be no escape.
TRAGEDY
The great tragedy is that no one that is lost will have an excuse. How more explicit could the Lord be? Prophecy upon prophecy, and the world continues to ignore God. Seek the Lord while He may be found. Seek the Lord today for tomorrow never comes. Great is the Lord. He is our Creator and we are called to believe and follow Him.

7/31 John 14:29-31
I have told you these things before they happen so that you will believe when they do happen. “I don’t have much more time to talk to you, because the prince of this world approaches. He has no power over me, 31 but I will do what the Father requires of me, so that the world will know that I love the Father. Come, let’s be going.
OBEDIENCE
We see the obedience of Jesus to the Father. He calls us to do as He does. Obey the Father. Follow Him. Be about the work we are assigned. Be confident of His presence and power. Jesus life is focused on us. We need to do a better job of focusing our life on Jesus.
How do we do that: 1. Daily quiet time and prayer time with Jesus, 2. Read God’s Word as though our ministry depended on it (it does), 3. Set aside each day time to listen to the Lord, 4. Ask Jesus to lead, guide and direct you-moment by moment, day by day so that you will constantly be equipped to serve Him, 4. Put His life to work in our life, 5. Spend time with other Christians, 6. Learn about the people around you, not to gossip but to serve-we are servants and we need to learn that, 7. Trust the Lord and live like He was in charge of your life.
7/30 John 14:28
Remember what I told you: I am going away, but I will come back to you again. If you really love me, you will be very happy for me, because now I can go to the Father, who is greater than I am.
HERE
Jesus is here. He lives in our heart. We are never without Him. Stop for just a minute and acknowledge His great love for you. Jesus loves you and you are not alone.
7/29 John 14:27
“I am leaving you with a gift — peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give isn’t like the peace the world gives. So don’t be troubled or afraid.
TROUBLED
DO NOT BE TROUBLED. Jesus is on your side. He will never leave you. He will make a way and you will not be overrun. The Lord is good and His love is everlasting and exactly shaped to fit you. Jesus loves you and offers His lasting peace for you.
7/28 John 14:25-26
I am telling you these things now while I am still with you. 26 But when the Father sends the Counselor as my representative — and by the Counselor I mean the Holy Spirit — he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I myself have told you.
LOVES
God loves us so much that He has always been seeking our best. The Lord God is great, He is good and His love is immeasurable. His very essence is love. Therefore He is providing everything we need in Jesus Christ. When we come into His family we have access to all the riches of the Godhead right now. Jesus loves you.
7/27 John 14:24
Anyone who doesn’t love me will not do what I say. And remember, my words are not my own. This message is from the Father who sent me.
JESUS
Jesus was sent to each one of us. For God so loved the world that He gave His only special son. He came for me and for you. He knows everything about us and is always seeking our best good. Help me Lord to listen and obey. Jesus is Lord.
7/26 John 14:22-23
Judas (not Judas Iscariot, but the other disciple with that name) said to him, “Lord, why are you going to reveal yourself only to us and not to the world at large?” 23 Jesus replied, “All those who love me will do what I say. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and live with them.
OBEY
It is important that we let our heart knowledge connect with our head knowledge. Discipline enables us to do those things we know we should do and even have promised to do. Our problem is not that we don’t know enough about Jesus. Our problem is obedience. Will I obey the Lord? That is the question. My call is clear. His Word is emphatic. Will I obey the Lord?
7/25 John 14:21
Those who obey my commandments are the ones who love me. And because they love me, my Father will love them, and I will love them. And I will reveal myself to each one of them.”
OBEDIENCE
When we are filled with Jesus we will do what He says. When we can’t seem to get ourselves to do what Jesus says we must look at ourselves. Obedience is a critical part of the Christian lifestyle. As we grow in Christ we will become more obedient to what Jesus says.
7/24 John 14:18-20
No, I will not abandon you as orphans — I will come to you. 19 In just a little while the world will not see me again, but you will. For I will live again, and you will, too. 20 When I am raised to life again, you will know that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.
ETERNAL
Jesus brings eternal life to us. He is life. He gives us light for living so that we can see our way. His protection is complete and eternal. Jesus will never leave us.
7/23 John 14:15-17
“If you love me, obey my commandments. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, who will never leave you. 17 He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world at large cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you do, because he lives with you now and later will be in you.
OBEDIENCE
Jesus loves obedience more than sacrifice. Jesus says that our love for Him will be manifested in our body and result in changing the way we act. Filled with the Spirit I will act more like Jesus.
