MAY 24 – JOB 42:1-6

05/24                  Job 42:1-6
Then Job replied to the Lord:
2 “I know that you can do anything,

and no one can stop you.
3 You asked, ‘Who is this that questions my wisdom with such ignorance?’
It is I—and I was talking about things I knew nothing about,
things far too wonderful for me.
4 You said, ‘Listen and I will speak!
I have some questions for you,
    and you must answer them.’
5 I had only heard about you before,
but now I have seen you with my own eyes.
6 I take back everything I said,
and I sit in dust and ashes to show my repentance.”

JOB

Job realizes that reading about God is one thing.

Seeing God is totally different.

When we see the Lord we recognize our limitations.

He is perfect we aren’t.

He is powerful, we are weak.

He knows all things, we know very little.

Amazing interaction and Job is so transparent.

“I sit in dust and ashes to show my repentance.”

That’s a line we could all emulate.

We are proud and stiff-necked.

We claim our priorities and seldom worship God.

We are to love Him with all of our heart and soul.

We don’t, therefore we sin and are in need of forgiveness.

Repent in sackcloth and ashes, Lord forgive my sinfulness.
