Read God’s Word.

2 They found that the stone had been rolled away from the entrance.

3 So they went in, but they didn’t find the body of the Lord Jesus.

NO STONE
What?
Who moved the stone.
Where is the body.
We didn’t do a good job of listening.

APRIL 16 – JOHN 19:26-30

04/16          John 19:26-30

26 When Jesus saw his mother standing there beside the disciple he loved, he said to her, “Dear woman, here is your son.” 27 And he said to this disciple, “Here is your mother.” And from then on this disciple took her into his home.  28 Jesus knew that his mission was now finished, and to fulfill Scripture he said, “I am thirsty.”  29 A jar of sour wine was sitting there, so they soaked a sponge in it, put it on a hyssop branch, and held it up to his lips. 30 When Jesus had tasted it, he said, “It is finished!” Then he bowed his head and released his spirit.

DONE

Jesus completed His work.

Handled his last responsibility.

Finished fulfilling Scripture.

Died.

Raised by the power of God.

He is alive today.

APRIL 15 – LUKE 23:39-47

04/15          Luke 23:39-47

39 One of the criminals hanging beside him scoffed, “So you’re the Messiah, are you? Prove it by saving yourself—and us, too, while you’re at it!” 40 But the other criminal protested, “Don’t you fear God even when you have been sentenced to die? 41 We deserve to die for our crimes, but this man hasn’t done anything wrong.” 42 Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your Kingdom.” 43 And Jesus replied, “I assure you, today you will be with me in paradise.” 44 By this time it was about noon, and darkness fell across the whole land until three o’clock. 45 The light from the sun was gone. And suddenly, the curtain in the sanctuary of the Temple was torn down the middle. 46 Then Jesus shouted, “Father, I entrust my spirit into your hands!” And with those words he breathed his last. 47 When the Roman officer overseeing the execution saw what had happened, he worshiped God and said, “Surely this man was innocent. ”

SURELY

Just like that the lost are saved.

The thief on the cross.

The centurion.

Jesus saves.

APRIL 14 – JOHN 19:10-16

04/14          John 19:10-16

10 “Why don’t you talk to me?” Pilate demanded. “Don’t you realize that I have the power to release you or crucify you?” 11 Then Jesus said, “You would have no power over me at all unless it were given to you from above. So the one who handed me over to you has the greater sin.” 12 Then Pilate tried to release him, but the Jewish leaders shouted, “If you release this man, you are no ‘friend of Caesar.’ Anyone who declares himself a king is a rebel against Caesar.” 13 When they said this, Pilate brought Jesus out to them again. Then Pilate sat down on the judgment seat on the platform that is called the Stone Pavement (in Hebrew, ). 14 It was now about noon on the day of preparation for the Passover. And Pilate said to the people, “Look, here is your king!” 15 “Away with him,” they yelled. “Away with him! Crucify him!” “What? Crucify your king?” Pilate asked. “We have no king but Caesar,” the leading priests shouted back.  16 Then Pilate turned Jesus over to them to be crucified. The Crucifixion So they took Jesus away.

REAL

He really died for us.  He really provides salvation to anyone that calls upon the name of the Lord to be saved.  He lived in the real world.  He died a real death.  Now He is seated at the right hand of the Father interceding for us every day.

APRIL 13 – MARK 15:16-24

04/13          Mark 15:16-24

16 The soldiers took Jesus into the courtyard of the governor’s headquarters (called the Praetorium) and called out the entire regiment. 17 They dressed him in a purple robe, and they wove thorn branches into a crown and put it on his head. 18 Then they saluted him and taunted, “Hail! King of the Jews!”  19 And they struck him on the head with a reed stick, spit on him, and dropped to their knees in mock worship.  20 When they were finally tired of mocking him, they took off the purple robe and put his own clothes on him again. Then they led him away to be crucified. 21 A passerby named Simon, who was from Cyrene, was coming in from the countryside just then, and the soldiers forced him to carry Jesus’ cross. (Simon was the father of Alexander and Rufus.) 22 And they brought Jesus to a place called Golgotha (which means “Place of the Skull”). 23 They offered him wine drugged with myrrh, but he refused it.  24 Then the soldiers nailed him to the cross. They divided his clothes and threw dice to decide who would get each piece.

JESUS

Jesus sacrificed and died so that we could have salvation-life like God’s.  It was hard to do, it was a God event in human flesh.  He lived among us and died for us.  Jesus is Lord.

APRIL 12 – MARK 15:1-11

04/12          Mark 15:1-11

Very early in the morning the leading priests, the elders, and the teachers of religious law—the entire high council —met to discuss their next step. They bound Jesus, led him away, and took him to Pilate, the Roman governor. Pilate asked Jesus, “Are you the king of the Jews?” Jesus replied, “You have said it.”  Then the leading priests kept accusing him of many crimes, and Pilate asked him, “Aren’t you going to answer them? What about all these charges they are bringing against you?”

But Jesus said nothing, much to Pilate’s surprise. Now it was the governor’s custom each year during the Passover celebration to release one prisoner—anyone the people requested. One of the prisoners at that time was Barabbas, a revolutionary who had committed murder in an uprising. The crowd went to Pilate and asked him to release a prisoner as usual. “Would you like me to release to you this ‘King of the Jews’?” Pilate asked. 10 (For he realized by now that the leading priests had arrested Jesus out of envy.) 11 But at this point the leading priests stirred up the crowd to demand the release of Barabbas instead of Jesus.

EVIL
Evil seeks to rule by destruction.  Do not let destruction rule you.  Jesus is the Creator and destruction is not part of His plan.  His plan was to show his love, God’s love, to you.  Do not let the evil one destroy you.  Surrender your life to Jesus.  He is Lord.

APRIL 11 – MARK 11:7-10

04/11          Mark 11:7-10

Then they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their garments over it, and he sat on it. Many in the crowd spread their garments on the road ahead of him, and others spread leafy branches they had cut in the fields. Jesus was in the center of the procession, and the people all around him were shouting, “Praise God! Blessings on the one who comes in the name of the LORD ! 10 Blessings on the coming Kingdom of our ancestor David! Praise God in highest heaven!”

BLESSINGS

Blessings on the coming Kingdom-Jesus is Lord.
Blessings on us, our Creator has visited us and declared His love.
Blessings on us-We are children of God.  He is our blessing.
