Today's Good News

DECEMBER 11 – ISAIAH 40:1-5

12/11          ISAIAH 40:1-5

1 “Comfort, comfort my people,” says your God.  2 “Speak tenderly to Jerusalem. Tell her that her sad days are gone and her sins are pardoned. Yes, the LORD has punished her twice over for all her sins.”  3 Listen! It’s the voice of someone shouting, “Clear the way through the wilderness for the LORD ! Make a straight highway through the wasteland for our God!  4 Fill in the valleys, and level the mountains and hills. Straighten the curves, and smooth out the rough places.  5 Then the glory of the LORD will be revealed, and all people will see it together. The LORD has spoken!”

LISTEN

The Lord God speaks to us.  He speaks in a still, quiet voice.  If you haven’t heard HIM, listen.  Seek His face.  Repent.  Listen.  You will.

DECEMBER 10 – PSALM 46:10-11

12/10          PSALM 46:10-11

10 “Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.”  11 The LORD of Heaven’s Armies is here among us; the God of Israel is our fortress. Interlude

QUIETWe can be still without being quiet.  Be quiet and know the Lord.  He comes to us seeking to connect with us but too often we don’t listen for Him.  Be quiet and listen for the Lord.  He is with us.  Do what He says.  Be His hands and feet.

DECEMBER 9 – PSALM 80:17-19

12/09          PSALM 80:17-19

17Strengthen the man you love, the son of your choice. 18 Then we will never abandon you again. Revive us so we can call on your name once more.  19 Turn us again to yourself, O LORD God of Heaven’s Armies. Make your face shine down upon us. Only then will we be saved.

WE

We are in desperate need for a Savior and God sent His son, Jesus.  Jesus is Lord and Savior and He is alive seated at the right hand of the Father.  Put the Son in your heart.  Then you will learn to live in victory.

DECEMBER 8 – MARK 13:24-37

12/08          MARK 13:24-37

24 “At that time, after the anguish of those days, the sun will be darkened, the moon will give no light,  25 the stars will fall from the sky, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken. 26 Then everyone will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds with great power and glory. 27 And he will send out his angels to gather his chosen ones from all over the world —from the farthest ends of the earth and heaven. 28 “Now learn a lesson from the fig tree. When its branches bud and its leaves begin to sprout, you know that summer is near.  29 In the same way, when you see all these things taking place, you can know that his return is very near, right at the door.  30 I tell you the truth, this generation will not pass from the scene before all these things take place.  31 Heaven and earth will disappear, but my words will never disappear.  32 “However, no one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the angels in heaven or the Son himself. Only the Father knows.  33 And since you don’t know when that time will come, be on guard! Stay alert !   34 “The coming of the Son of Man can be illustrated by the story of a man going on a long trip. When he left home, he gave each of his slaves instructions about the work they were to do, and he told the gatekeeper to watch for his return.  35 You, too, must keep watch! For you don’t know when the master of the household will return—in the evening, at midnight, before dawn, or at daybreak.  36 Don’t let him find you sleeping when he arrives without warning.  37 I say to you what I say to everyone: Watch for him!

WATCH

Watch for Jesus.  The Lord promises He is coming back.  We need to be alert, eager in well doing and watchful for His return.  Jesus is coming back.

12/06          JEREMIAH 33:14-16

14 “The day will come, says the LORD, when I will do for Israel and Judah all the good things I have promised them.  15 “In those days and at that time I will raise up a righteous descendant from King David’s line. He will do what is just and right throughout the land. 16 In that day Judah will be saved, and Jerusalem will live in safety. And this will be its name: ‘The LORD Is Our Righteousness.’

WE

We stand and exist because of His righteousness which He bestows upon us.  We cannot provide healing from our sin and Jesus heals us from our sin and separation from the Father.  Jesus is Lord.  He is Lord indeed!

DECEMBER 5 – ISAIAH 7:14

12/05          ISAIAH 7:14

14 All right then, the Lord himself will give you the sign. Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son and will call him Immanuel (which means ‘God is with us’).

WITH

Hallelujah, the Lord God has come to His people.  Praise the name of the Lord.  His name is Jesus!

DECEMBER 4 – ISAIAH 61:1-2

12/04          ISAIAH 61:1-2

1 The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is upon me, for the LORD has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted and to proclaim that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed.  2 He has sent me to tell those who mourn that the time of the LORD’s favor has come, and with it, the day of God’s anger against their enemies.

CHRIST

Christ has come.  The Messiah has been here, and he was looking for His children and such we are.  Jesus is Lord.

DECEMBER 3 – PSALM 80:1-7

12/03          PSALM 80:1-7

1 Please listen, O Shepherd of Israel, you who lead Joseph’s descendants like a flock. O God, enthroned above the cherubim, display your radiant glory 2 to Ephraim, Benjamin, and Manasseh. Show us your mighty power. Come to rescue us! 3 Turn us again to yourself, O God. Make your face shine down upon us. Only then will we be saved. 4 O LORD God of Heaven’s Armies, how long will you be angry with our prayers? 5 You have fed us with sorrow and made us drink tears by the bucketful. 6 You have made us the scorn of neighboring nations. Our enemies treat us as a joke. 7Turn us again to yourself, O God of Heaven’s Armies. Make your face shine down upon us. Only then will we be saved

FORGIVE

Father we pray for Your forgiveness.  This Advent Season, help us to surrender, to change, to become more useable and grow in Christ likeness.  Jesus is Lord.

DECEMBER 2 – GALATIANS 4:4-8

12/02          GALATIANS 4:4-8

4 But when the right time came, God sent his Son, born of a woman, subject to the law. 5God sent him to buy freedom for us who were slaves to the law, so that he could adopt us as his very own children. 6 And because we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, “Abba, Father.” 7 Now you are no longer a slave but God’s own child. And since you are his child, God has made you his heir. 8 Before you Gentiles knew God, you were slaves to so-called gods that do not even exist

JESUS

Jesus saves us from our sin.  He is God with us.  Bless the Lord for His love for us.  Praise the Lord.
