Today's Good News

JULY 18 – ROMANS 1:1-5

07/18          Romans 1:1-5

1 This letter is from Paul, a slave of Christ Jesus, chosen by God to be an apostle and sent out to preach his Good News. 2 God promised this Good News long ago through his prophets in the holy Scriptures. 3 The Good News is about his Son. In his earthly life he was born into King David’s family line, 4 and he was shown to be the Son of God when he was raised from the dead by the power of the Holy Spirit. He is Jesus Christ our Lord. 5 Through Christ, God has given us the privilege and authority as apostles to tell Gentiles everywhere what God has done for them, so that they will believe and obey him, bringing glory to his name.

GOSPEL
The Gospel is telling the Good News about Jesus.  Jesus is the Lord God Almighty’s way to solve our sin problem.  Jesus forgives us of our sin and puts His righteousness on us.  God loves you.

JULY 17 – JOHN 1:14

07/17          John 1:14

14 So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.

JESUS

Jesus is God’s everything.  We begin with Jesus.  We grow with Jesus.  We will end up with Jesus.  He is the only way to the Father.  He is filled with mercy and grace, giving it to us in floods of His love.  Jesus is Lord.

JULY 16 – ROMANS 3:20-24

07/16          Romans 3:20-24

20 For no one can ever be made right with God by doing what the law commands. The law simply shows us how sinful we are.  21 But now God has shown us a way to be made right with him without keeping the requirements of the law, as was promised in the writings of Moses and the prophets long ago.    22 We are made right with God by placing our faith in Jesus Christ. And this is true for everyone who believes, no matter who we are. 23 For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard. 24 Yet God freely and graciously declares that we are righteous. He did this through Christ Jesus when he freed us from the penalty for our sins.

WEAK

We are weak and heavy laden.  Jesus offers us rest.  He knows what we need and when we need it.  Trust in the Lord and He will do it.  His mercy is great and His grace isn’t cheap but it is free for the asking.

JULY 15 – 2 COR. 12:8-9

07/15          2 Corinthians 12:8-9

8 Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away. 9 Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.

LORD
The Lord is seeking to help us navigate everyday life.  He wants us to find stability and strength by His grace not by living like the world but in fact learning to live under the direction of the Holy Spirit guiding us to Jesus.  Jesus is God’s everything.  Trust Jesus, obey Him, and you will live a powerful life.

JULY 14 – TITUS 2:11-12

07/14          Titus 2:11-12

07/13          Romans 5:8

8 But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.

DEAD

We were dead in our trespasses and sin and Christ died for us.  The righteous One for sinners of which I am chief.  Jesus is Lord and He died for you and me.  The power of God raised Him from the dead and He is now seated at the right hand of God.

STRENGTH

The Lord God Almighty is seeking to give us His strength.  When we trust in the Lord He provides strength to face each day.  We will always survive with this God given strength and the world will not defeat us.  Trust in the Lord and He will do it.  Trust Jesus.

JULY 10 – 2 TIMOTHY 1:9

07/10          2 Timothy 1:9

9 For God saved us and called us to live a holy life. He did this, not because we deserved it, but because that was his plan from before the beginning of time—to show us his grace through Christ Jesus.

DESERVE

We are quick to say we deserve this or deserve that when in fact we are blessed beyond our understanding.  If we got what we deserved most of us would be in trouble.  But the Lord gives to us not what we deserve but what He desires to give us.  Jesus loves you.  Love Him back.

JULY 9 – 2 CORINTHIANS 9:8

07/09          2 Corinthians 9:8

8 And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.

PLENTY

Generosity creates plenty.  This is a universal law.  You can’t outgive the Lord.  Give to those in need and the Lord will return to you more than you gave.  Be generous and always be filled to overflowing.  The Lord loves a cheerful giver.
