Today's Good News

JULY 8 – 1 TIMOTHY 2:1-2

07/08          1 Timothy 2:1-2

1 I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. 2 Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity.

WE

This is a call for us, WE, to be sure to pray for all people.  God loves people most of all.  Let’s develop the habit of caring for people.  All people.

JULY 7 – 1 JOHN 1:9

07/07          1 John 1:9

9 But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.

CLEANSE
The Lord will cleanse you from your sin if you will confess your sin to Him.  He will forgive your sin.  Seek the Lord and He will be found by you.

JULY 6 – JAMES 5:16

07/06          James 5:16

16 Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.

PRAY

Pray for each other.  This is what a righteous person does.  As one of His righteous people (Jesus your elder brother has forgiven you and seated at the right hand of the Father is interceding for you) you have great power with the Lord and He is able to accomplish great results in your life.  Pray.  It’s important.  It’s useful.  It’s the right thing to do.  Pray.

JULY 5 – JAMES 4:1-3

07/05          James 4:1-3

1 What is causing the quarrels and fights among you? Don’t they come from the evil desires at war within you? 2 You want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can’t get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them. Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it. 3 And even when you ask, you don’t get it because your motives are all wrong—you want only what will give you pleasure.

WHAT
Pride destroys our communion with the Lord.  Stop being self-centered.  Start bending your knee to the Lord God Almighty, doing what He says and asking Him for the wisdom, mercy and grace to be humble and under His control.  Do not stifle the Holy Spirit.  Bend your knee to the Lord.  He resists the proud and hears the humble.

JULY 4 – JAMES 1:7

07/04          James 1:7

5 If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. 6 But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. 7 Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.

WISDOM

When you need wisdom, ask God.  Believe in the Lord and He will do it.

JULY 3 – HEBREWS 4:14

07/03          Hebrews 4:14

14 So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe.

HOLD

Hold firmly to what the Lord Jesus has put into you.  He gives you wisdom, mercy, grace and understanding and you will need all of that and the Holy Spirit to maintain a constant focus on Jesus and what He has called you to do.  You are to love the Lord God with all of our heart and to love your neighbors as yourself.  Hold firmly to your faith in the Lord.  Jesus loves you.

JULY 2 – 1 TIMOTHY 2:8

07/02          1 Timothy 2:8

8 In every place of worship, I want men to pray with holy hands lifted up to God, free from anger and controversy.

BE

Change and be the person Jesus created you to be.  We are called to set aside anger and controversy.  We can be confident that Jesus will walk through the journey to wholeness with us.  Be filled with the Holy Spirit and sin not.  Jesus is Lord.

JULY 1 – 1 THESS. 5:17

07/01          1 Thessalonians 5:17

17 Never stop praying.

NEVER

It is critical for us to pray every day.  Never stop praying.  In all things give thanks to the Lord and be consistent in praying each day.  Daily prayer changes us.  Constant prayer equips us.

JUNE 30 – COLOSSIANS 4:2

06/30          Colossians 4:2

2 Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart.

CARE
Be mindful in your prayer.  Approach the Father with a thankful heart.  You will discover the power of God in you, guiding you in your prayer and standing with you when you see Him at work in your life.

JUNE 29 – PHILIPPIANS 4:6

06/29          Philippians 4:6

6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.

THANK

Succeed?  Thank the Lord.  Overwhelmed?  Thank the Lord.  Thank the Lord in all things and know that you will experience His power and strength in your life.  Jesus is Lord and He cares for you.
