Today's Good News

MAY 24 – JOB 42:1-6

05/24                  Job 42:1-6
Then Job replied to the Lord:
2 “I know that you can do anything,

and no one can stop you.
3 You asked, ‘Who is this that questions my wisdom with such ignorance?’
It is I—and I was talking about things I knew nothing about,
things far too wonderful for me.
4 You said, ‘Listen and I will speak!
I have some questions for you,
    and you must answer them.’
5 I had only heard about you before,
but now I have seen you with my own eyes.
6 I take back everything I said,
and I sit in dust and ashes to show my repentance.”

JOB

Job realizes that reading about God is one thing.

Seeing God is totally different.

When we see the Lord we recognize our limitations.

He is perfect we aren’t.

He is powerful, we are weak.

He knows all things, we know very little.

Amazing interaction and Job is so transparent.

“I sit in dust and ashes to show my repentance.”

That’s a line we could all emulate.

We are proud and stiff-necked.

We claim our priorities and seldom worship God.

We are to love Him with all of our heart and soul.

We don’t, therefore we sin and are in need of forgiveness.

Repent in sackcloth and ashes, Lord forgive my sinfulness.

MAY 23 – ISA. 2:21

05/23                  Isaiah 2:21

21     while they crawl away into caverns
and hide among the jagged rocks in the cliffs.
They will try to escape the terror of the Lord
and the glory of his majesty
as he rises to shake the earth.

WICKED

The wicked thought they were in control.

Jesus is coming back in judgment.

It will be a horrible day.

No escape.

God is truly in control, even when the world is out of control.

MAY 22 – JOB 12:7-13

05/22                  Job 12:7-13
7 “Just ask the animals, and they will teach you.
Ask the birds of the sky, and they will tell you.
8 Speak to the earth, and it will instruct you.
Let the fish in the sea speak to you.
9 For they all know
that my disaster has come from the hand of the Lord.
10 For the life of every living thing is in his hand,
and the breath of every human being.
11 The ear tests the words it hears
just as the mouth distinguishes between foods.
12 Wisdom belongs to the aged,
    and understanding to the old.
13 “But true wisdom and power are found in God;
    counsel and understanding are his.

ALL

All life is begun by God.

He did it for His good pleasure.

He created it good.

Man sinned.

It causes all creation to groan in agony awaiting the return of Jesus.

MAY 21 – PS. 8:1-8

05/21                  Psalm 8:1-8
1 O Lord, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth!
Your glory is higher than the heavens.
2 You have taught children and infants
    to tell of your strength,[b]
silencing your enemies
    and all who oppose you.
3 When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers—
the moon and the stars you set in place—
4 what are mere mortals that you should think about them,
human beings that you should care for them?
5 Yet you made them only a little lower than God
and crowned them with glory and honor.
6 You gave them charge of everything you made,
putting all things under their authority—
7 the flocks and the herds
    and all the wild animals,
8 the birds in the sky, the fish in the sea,
and everything that swims the ocean currents.

ALMIGHTY

God is almighty in Creation.

HE is God all by himself.

Yet He loves mankind, He created us to love Him.

We don’t, we just sin, and ignore Him.

But He is sending a savior,

Who will bring us to Him.

MAY 20 – ISAIAH 25:10

05/20                  Isaiah 26:10

10 Your kindness to the wicked
does not make them do good.
Although others do right, the wicked keep doing wrong
and take no notice of the Lord’s majesty.

KINDNESS

The wicked do not notice God.

They operate every day in complete ignorance and foolishness.

They think they are in control,

When in fact, the Evil One controls them.

They continue in their evil every day,

Walking straight to their death.

Bigger than life, yet in one day they will disappear.

MAY 19 – ROMANS 1:20

05/19                  Romans 1:20

20 For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.

NO

There is no excuse for not knowing God.

He has clearly made himself visible by His creation.

No excuse for being self-centered.

No excuse for worshipping idols.

No excuse.

MAY 18 – HEB. 8:1-2

05/18                  Hebrews 8:1-2

Here is the main point: We have a High Priest who sat down in the place of honor beside the throne of the majestic God in heaven. 2 There he ministers in the heavenly Tabernacle, the true place of worship that was built by the Lord and not by human hands.

JESUS

Jesus Christ is our High Priest,

A high priest of God, and eternal.

He is the righteous king.

He is king of peace.

He blesses followers of God.

He is the perfect intercessor on our behalf.

He is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

MAY 17 – MICAH 5:4

05/17                  Micah 5:4

4 And he will stand to lead his flock with the Lord’s strength,
in the majesty of the name of the Lord his God.
Then his people will live there undisturbed,
for he will be highly honored around the world.

COMING

Jesus is coming.

He is coming to lead His people.

He is our strength, our protector.

We will live with Him forever,

He will cover us with His perfection, grace and mercy.

He will give us life like His.

MAY 16 – PS. 8:9

05/16                  Psalm 8:9

9 O Lord, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth!

MAJESTIC

His name is wonderful.

He has always been and everything that is created,

Was created by Him.

The complexity of creation is typical of His creativity.

He is perfection and completion.

He was before the beginning and in Him everything holds together.

One day our majestic Lord is coming back.

Jesus, Jesus, Jesus, He is indeed Lord.

MAY 15 – 1 CHRON. 16:27

05/15                  1 Chronicles 16:27

27 Honor and majesty surround him;
strength and joy fill his dwelling.

GLORY

The train of His glory is honor and majesty.

He is truly perfect, beyond anything we can comprehend.

He knew us, birthed us and placed us in His kingdom,

He has a purpose for each of us!

He loves us and permits us to come into His throne room,

Jesus’ shed blood provides us cleansing and access.

He is almighty, and peace and joy are always with Him.
