Today's Good News

JULY 5 – JAMES 4:1-3

07/05          James 4:1-3

1 What is causing the quarrels and fights among you? Don’t they come from the evil desires at war within you? 2 You want what you don’t have, so you scheme and kill to get it. You are jealous of what others have, but you can’t get it, so you fight and wage war to take it away from them. Yet you don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it. 3 And even when you ask, you don’t get it because your motives are all wrong—you want only what will give you pleasure.

WHAT
Pride destroys our communion with the Lord.  Stop being self-centered.  Start bending your knee to the Lord God Almighty, doing what He says and asking Him for the wisdom, mercy and grace to be humble and under His control.  Do not stifle the Holy Spirit.  Bend your knee to the Lord.  He resists the proud and hears the humble.

JULY 4 – JAMES 1:7

07/04          James 1:7

5 If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. 6 But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. 7 Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.

WISDOM

When you need wisdom, ask God.  Believe in the Lord and He will do it.

JULY 3 – HEBREWS 4:14

07/03          Hebrews 4:14

14 So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe.

HOLD

Hold firmly to what the Lord Jesus has put into you.  He gives you wisdom, mercy, grace and understanding and you will need all of that and the Holy Spirit to maintain a constant focus on Jesus and what He has called you to do.  You are to love the Lord God with all of our heart and to love your neighbors as yourself.  Hold firmly to your faith in the Lord.  Jesus loves you.

JULY 2 – 1 TIMOTHY 2:8

07/02          1 Timothy 2:8

8 In every place of worship, I want men to pray with holy hands lifted up to God, free from anger and controversy.

BE

Change and be the person Jesus created you to be.  We are called to set aside anger and controversy.  We can be confident that Jesus will walk through the journey to wholeness with us.  Be filled with the Holy Spirit and sin not.  Jesus is Lord.

JULY 1 – 1 THESS. 5:17

JUNE 29 – PHILIPPIANS 4:6

06/29          Philippians 4:6

6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.

THANK

Succeed?  Thank the Lord.  Overwhelmed?  Thank the Lord.  Thank the Lord in all things and know that you will experience His power and strength in your life.  Jesus is Lord and He cares for you.

JUNE 28 – ROMANS 8:26

06/28          Romans 8:26

26 And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words.

LIMITED

We have limited knowledge but God will intercede for us and help us in the things we cannot even imagine.  Life is quick and painful and the Lord is here.  He will take care of us.  Trust in the Lord and He will do it.

JUNE 27 – LUKE 18:1

06/27          Luke 18:1

1 One day Jesus told his disciples a story to show that they should always pray and never give up.

ALWAYS

Always pray.  Never quit.  Trust God.  Live strong because you belong to Him and He will listen to you and help you.  You are not alone.  Jesus is Lord.

JUNE 26 – LUKE 6:12

06/26          Luke 6:12

One day soon afterward Jesus went up on a mountain to pray, and he prayed to God all night.

KEY
Prayer is key for our spiritual growth.  Standing fast before the onslaught of the powers and principalities of the air is critical for us.  Pray with all of your heart.  Pray sincerely.  Pray daily. Pray with the understanding that you will grow as you pray.  Prayer is part of the normal Christian life.
