Today's Good News

JANUARY 17 – TELL

01/17               Matthew 10:8-15

Heal the sick, raise the dead, cure those with leprosy, and cast out demons. Give as freely as you have received!  9 “Don’t take any money in your money belts—no gold, silver, or even copper coins. 10 Don’t carry a traveler’s bag with a change of clothes and sandals or even a walking stick. Don’t hesitate to accept hospitality, because those who work deserve to be fed.  11“Whenever you enter a city or village, search for a worthy person and stay in his home until you leave town.  12 When you enter the home, give it your blessing.  13 If it turns out to be a worthy home, let your blessing stand; if it is not, take back the blessing.  14 If any household or town refuses to welcome you or listen to your message, shake its dust from your feet as you leave. 15 I tell you the truth, the wicked cities of Sodom and Gomorrah will be better off than such a town on the judgment day.

TELL

Tell the Story of Jesus.  Talk with others about what Christ has done for you.  People want to know about your personal relationship with Jesus.  Live like Jesus, care for people.  Serve like Jesus, do unto others as you would have them do unto you.  Serve the Lord.  Love people.  ‘

JANUARY 16 – MESSIAH

01/16               Matthew 10:5-6

Jesus sent out the twelve apostles with these instructions: “Don’t go to the Gentiles or the Samaritans, 6 but only to the people of Israel—God’s lost sheep.   7 Go and announce to them that the Kingdom of Heaven is near.

MESSIAH

The Messiah has come.  The children of Israel have been told.  Now we have heard the Word of God-the Good News-God has intervened and it is our time to step forward and spread the Good News.  Jesus is Lord.  He is our only access to the Father.  There is no other way.

JANUARY 15 – WHAT

01/15               Matthew 10:1-4

1 Jesus called his twelve disciples together and gave them authority to cast out evil spirits and to heal every kind of disease and illness.  2 Here are the names of the twelve apostles: first, Simon (also called Peter), then Andrew (Peter’s brother), James (son of Zebedee), John (James’s brother), 3 Philip, Bartholomew, Thomas, Matthew (the tax collector), James (son of Alphaeus), Thaddaeus, 4 Simon (the zealot ), Judas Iscariot (who later betrayed him).

WHAT

What has God called you to do?  He calls every one of His children to serve as His rep in the world.  People need people.  We can help in any number of ways and serve our fellow mankind.  Ask the Lord what He wants you to do and then do it.

JANUARY 14 – CALL

01/14               Matthew 9:36-38

When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. 37 He said to his disciples, “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. 38 So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.”

CALL

God is calling many to serve in ministry, to proclaim the Good News and live as His co-worker.  Have you heard the call and ignored it?  It is never to late to follow Jesus in service.  Maybe service at a Senior Home or a local jail, or with the police department or many other positions that might not be paid but are a great opportunity to spread the Good News in service to mankind.  Jesus is calling.  Are you listening?  Serve the Lord with gladness.

JANUARY 13 – GOOD NEWS

01/13               Matthew 9:35

Jesus traveled through all the towns and villages of that area, teaching in the synagogues and announcing the Good News about the Kingdom. And he healed every kind of disease and illness.

GOOD NEWS

We are no longer slaves to sin.  God himself has come to set us free.  Jesus is the only way to the Father and He offers us the free gift of eternal relationship with the Father and membership in the Family of God.

JANUARY 12 – NO

01/12               Matthew 9:32-34

When they left, a demon-possessed man who couldn’t speak was brought to Jesus. 33 So Jesus cast out the demon, and then the man began to speak. The crowds were amazed. “Nothing like this has ever happened in Israel!” they exclaimed. 34 But the Pharisees said, “He can cast out demons because he is empowered by the prince of demons.”

NO

No, if He were the prince of demons, He wouldn’t throw out His demons.  He is Lord of all things and has power over all things.  He threw out the demons because they were destroying one of His creations.  God loves people.

JANUARY 11 – BELIEVE

01/11               Matthew 9:27-31

After Jesus left the girl’s home, two blind men followed along behind him, shouting, “Son of David, have mercy on us!” 28 They went right into the house where he was staying, and Jesus asked them, “Do you believe I can make you see?” “Yes, Lord,” they told him, “we do.” 29 Then he touched their eyes and said, “Because of your faith, it will happen.”  30 Then their eyes were opened, and they could see! Jesus sternly warned them, “Don’t tell anyone about this.” 31 But instead, they went out and spread his fame all over the region.

BELIEVE

JESUS is Lord.  We don’t believe that and make it so, no, instead we believe in Him who is Lord, that we are in His family and that we are related to Him and effectively He works in our life.  God can do anything and one of the things He loves to do is take care of His children.

JANUARY 10 – LIFE

01/10               Matthew 9:23

When Jesus arrived at the official’s home, he saw the noisy crowd and heard the funeral music. 24 “Get out!” he told them. “The girl isn’t dead; she’s only asleep.” But the crowd laughed at him. 25 After the crowd was put outside, however, Jesus went in and took the girl by the hand, and she stood up! 26 The report of this miracle swept through the entire countryside.

LIFE

Jesus is the life giver-the creator.  He is victorious over death.  He knows the way we should go.  He is the Healer and giver of new life.  Spend time with Jesus.  Claim Him.  Believe in Him.  Let Christ forgive you of your sin and give you the free gift of life.  Believe and be healed.

JANUARY 9 – BELIEVE

01/09               Matthew 9:20-22

Just then a woman who had suffered for twelve years with constant bleeding came up behind him. She touched the fringe of his robe, 21 for she thought, “If I can just touch his robe, I will be healed.” 22 Jesus turned around, and when he saw her he said, “Daughter, be encouraged! Your faith has made you well.” And the woman was healed at that moment.

BELIEVE

It is our faith in Jesus that makes us whole, not our works.  We do good works because He has saved.  We care for others in Jesus name.  He is Holy, He is Lord.

JANUARY 8 – BELIEVER

01/08               Matthew 9:18-19

As Jesus was saying this, the leader of a synagogue came and knelt before him. “My daughter has just died,” he said, “but you can bring her back to life again if you just come and lay your hand on her.” 19 So Jesus and his disciples got up and went with him.

BELIEVER

The leader of the synagogue believed in Jesus.  He was desperate to save His daughter’s life and Jesus went with him to see about his daughter.  People count with Jesus and the leader of the synagogue knew it.
