Today's Good News

DECEMBER 4 – DON’T QUIT

12/04               Matthew 7:7-11

“Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.  8 For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.  9 “You parents—if your children ask for a loaf of bread, do you give them a stone instead? 10 Or if they ask for a fish, do you give them a snake? Of course not!  11 So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him.

DON’T QUIT

When you are praying don’t quit.  When you are seeking the Lord’s face for something you are sure is what He wants don’t quit.  Pray, pray, pray without ceasing.  Jesus loves you.

DECEMBER 3 – ACT

12/03               Matthew 7:6

“Don’t waste what is holy on people who are unholy. Don’t throw your pearls to pigs! They will trample the pearls, then turn and attack you.

ACT

We are called to act with care and concern for others not to be know it alls even when we know it.  Humility is always in order.  Love one another.

DECEMBER 2 – WHO

12/02               Matthew 7:3-5

“And why worry about a speck in your friend’s eye when you have a log in your own?

4 How can you think of saying to your friend, ‘Let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye,’ when you can’t see past the log in your own eye? 5 Hypocrite! First get rid of the log in your own eye; then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend’s eye.

WHO

Don’t forget who you are.  Jesus is Lord and we are not.  Be careful when dealing with people.  People count with Jesus.  When we are pointing one finger at someone else there are three pointing back at us.  Be kind.  Love one another.

DECEMBER 1 – CHECK

12/01               Matthew 7:1-2

1 “Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. 2 For you will be treated as you treat others. The standard you use in judging is the standard by which you will be judged.

CHECK

Check yourself.  Are you quick to judge others?  Jesus says do not judge others.

NOVEMBER 30 – REJOICE

11/30               Psalm 9:1-2

1 I will praise you, LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all the marvelous things you have done. 2 I will be filled with joy because of you. I will sing praises to your name, O Most High.

REJOICE

We have access to the Lord all the time.  He loves to spend time with us.  Praise His name.  We have a loving Lord who cared enough for us to die for us.  Praise His name.  Praise the Lord – Praise the Lord.

NOVEMBER 29 – CARES

11/29               Jeremiah 30:19

19There will be joy and songs of thanksgiving, and I will multiply my people, not diminish them; I will honor them, not despise them.

CARES

The Lord cares for you.  He is concerned about your life.  As you face difficult situations and struggle with evil you can be confident that every promise of God is Yes for you.  He is there with you and He will not leave you alone. Serve the Lord with gladness for Jesus loves you.

NOVEMBER 28 – WE

11/28               2 Corinthians 4:15

15 All of this is for your benefit. And as God’s grace reaches more and more people, there will be great thanksgiving, and God will receive more and more glory.

WE

We are here to serve the Lord and bring glory to Him.  Tell others about Jesus.  Do the next right thing.  Spend time with Jesus.  You will discover that you are constantly bringing glory to the Father as you live your life devoted to Jesus.  As you become more like Jesus you will constantly be bringing glory to the Lord.  Glory!

NOVEMBER 27 – TRUST

11/27               Philippians 4:6-7

6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

TRUST

When you trust Jesus and talk with Him about everything, He will fix it.  Maybe not the way you thought, but Jesus will never let you down.  He is God’s everything and His eye is upon you.

NOVEMBER 26 – TODAY

11/26               Matthew 6:30

And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith? 31 “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’  32 These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. 33 Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. 34 “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.

TODAY

Be a today person.  Let Jesus deal with your today.  Do not worry about tomorrow.  Do not focus and fret over yesterday.  Jesus will deal with your troubles today every day.

NOVEMBER 25 – LIFE

11/25               Matthew 6:24-29

“No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money. 25 “That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing?  26 Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are?  27 Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?  28 “And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, 29 yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are.

LIFE

My life is controlled by Jesus.  He is my everything.  I spend time with Him and He corrects me.  I spend time with Him and He teaches me.  People count but in this world things like money and power and position count.  Jesus teaches us to care for the hurting, the disadvantaged, the poor, the widow and orphans.  What an awful world that murders unborn babies and pats itself on the back.  Christ is calling us to pray for them.  The only way we will change this is to lead the lost to Christ.  Share Jesus with everyone.
