10/21          2 Peter 3:14

And so, dear friends, while you are waiting for these things to happen, make every effort to be found living peaceful lives that are pure and blameless in his sight.

FOCUS

My life is in His hands.  My soul is encouraged by His presence.  He gives me His peace, His joy and therefore I can live my life longing for His return and still live peacefully.  I am His and belong to Jesus. 

10/20          2 Peter 3:13

But we are looking forward to the new heavens and new earth he has promised, a world filled with God’s righteousness.

SOON

Jesus is coming back soon.  The world groans as it waits.  I’m waiting and experiencing the oppression of the evil of this world.  I stop and listen and my heart knows He is coming soon. 

10/19          2 Peter 3:10-12

But the day of the Lord will come as unexpectedly as a thief. Then the heavens will pass away with a terrible noise, and the very elements themselves will disappear in fire, and the earth and everything on it will be found to deserve judgment. 11 Since everything around us is going to be destroyed like this, what holy and godly lives you should live, 12 looking forward to the day of God and hurrying it along. On that day, he will set the heavens on fire, and the elements will melt away in the flames.

JESUS
Jesus is coming back.  It may be today.  When He returns it will be in judgment.  Listen to the Lord, obey Him and be ready for Christ’s return.  Jesus is coming back soon. 

10/18          2 Peter 3:9

The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.

REPENT

You and I need to repent for we lead self-interested lives seeking our own gain and constantly miss what the Lord is calling us to do.  I want to change.  We need to changed.  Repent of the way you are living your life and turn back to Jesus.  Let Him control your every move.  He is Lord. 

10/17          2 Peter 3:8

But you must not forget this one thing, dear friends: A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day.

WAIT
Wait upon the Lord.  Pray, pray, pray and live with the sure knowledge that the Lord has heard you and will answer.  Wait upon the Lord. 

10/16          2 Peter 3:7

And by the same word, the present heavens and earth have been stored up for fire. They are being kept for the day of judgment, when ungodly people will be destroyed.

EVIL

Evil does not win.  Evil is on a time line for destruction.  Evil destroys completely and will be completely destroyed.  Jesus is Lord. 

10/15          2 Peter 3:5-6

They deliberately forget that God made the heavens long ago by the word of his command, and he brought the earth out from the water and surrounded it with water. 6 Then he used the water to destroy the ancient world with a mighty flood.

SIN

Sin ignores God and proclaims its rights.  We can look at ourselves and see the handiwork of God or the lack of His work in our life by the way we treat those around us.  God is love.  Sin is hate and disdain and gossip and subjugation.  Sin never lifts people up it is always enslaving those under its control.  Jesus lifts us up and makes us a part of His family. 

10/14              2 Peter 3:3-4

 Most importantly, I want to remind you that in the last days scoffers will come, mocking the truth and following their own desires. 4 They will say, “What happened to the promise that Jesus is coming again? From before the times of our ancestors, everything has remained the same since the world was first created.”

WHAT
All around the world criticizes Jesus.  They lambast us as fools and ignorant.  They speak of their wisdom as enlightened and yet the world murders babys and calls that pro-choice.  The extoll the virtues of lifestyles that are pro-death and against God.  Understand that this is normal in the world as it is dead in its trespasses and sin.  Lost people always act like lost people.  You pray for them.  Pray to the Lord that they might be saved and know Him.  Pray consistently every day and be persistent in pleading for their life. 

10/13              2 Peter 3:2

I want you to remember what the holy prophets said long ago and what our Lord and Savior commanded through your apostles.

STUDY

Study the Word of God – Bible – so that you will know and remember what the Lord said.  Don’t depend on others for your knowledge of the Word.  You know what the Lord says and apply it to your life. 

10/12              2 Peter 3:1

1 This is my second letter to you, dear friends, and in both of them I have tried to stimulate your wholesome thinking and refresh your memory.

THINK

Think on the things of the Lord.  We discover these in His Word, from the Holy Spirit and in the hearts and minds of our friends that are following Jesus.  Fellowship with His people.  Memorizing Scripture is also an additional way to refresh your memory.
