09/10 Luke 7:31-34
“How shall I describe this generation?” Jesus asked. “With what will I compare them? 32 They are like a group of children playing a game in the public square. They complain to their friends, ‘We played wedding songs, and you weren’t happy, so we played funeral songs, but you weren’t sad.’ 33 For John the Baptist didn’t drink wine and he often fasted, and you say, ‘He’s demon possessed.’ 34 And I, the Son of Man, feast and drink, and you say, ‘He’s a glutton and a drunkard, and a friend of the worst sort of sinners!’
HOW
How can we describe this generation: Selfish, self-centered, the land stained by abortion and even worse the law of the land honoring sin? Look around and make a decision: I will follow the Lord or I will follow self. Your choice and it has eternal consequences. Choose which way you will go but remember Jesus is calling each one of us to follow Him.
09/09 Luke 7:28-30
I tell you, of all who have ever lived, none is greater than John. Yet even the most insignificant person in the Kingdom of God is greater than he is!” 29 When they heard this, all the people, including the unjust tax collectors, agreed that God’s plan was right, for they had been baptized by John. 30 But the Pharisees and experts in religious law had rejected God’s plan for them, for they had refused John’s baptism.
HEAR
Hear God’s Word to you “be saved.” As a result of being saved you now have the ability to proclaim this Good News to everyone. Jesus saves is certainly true. We trust Him to forgive us and give us new life and this new life is guaranteed by Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Jesus is Lord.
09/08 Luke 7:24-27
After they left, Jesus talked to the crowd about John. “Who is this man in the wilderness that you went out to see? Did you find him weak as a reed, moved by every breath of wind? 25 Or were you expecting to see a man dressed in expensive clothes? No, people who wear beautiful clothes and live in luxury are found in palaces, not in the wilderness. 26 Were you looking for a prophet? Yes, and he is more than a prophet. 27 John is the man to whom the Scriptures refer when they say, ‘Look, I am sending my messenger before you, and he will prepare your way before you.’
CALLED
John was called of God to proclaim his message of a call to repentance preparing the way for Jesus. Now in our day Jesus has come nearly 2,000 years ago and we are charged by God to proclaim the message that Jesus loves you. Don’t forget about John but especially don’t forget the opportunity you have to partner with Jesus in spreading the Good News that Christ offers us the free gift of life when we believe in Him. Jesus loves you!
09/07 Luke 7:20-23
John’s two disciples found Jesus and said to him, “John the Baptist sent us to ask, ‘Are you the Messiah we’ve been expecting, or should we keep looking for someone else?'” 21 At that very time, he cured many people of their various diseases, and he cast out evil spirits and restored sight to the blind. 22 Then he told John’s disciples, “Go back to John and tell him what you have seen and heard — the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised to life, and the Good News is being preached to the poor. 23 And tell him, ‘God blesses those who are not offended by me. ‘”
YES
Jesus is the Son of God. He is Lord and Creator of all things. He has come to save us and one day will return. He is with each one of His children and His victory is our victory. Jesus is Lord.
09/06 Luke 7:18-19
The disciples of John the Baptist told John about everything Jesus was doing. So John called for two of his disciples, 19 and he sent them to the Lord to ask him, “Are you the Messiah we’ve been expecting, or should we keep looking for someone else?”
KNEW
John knew who Jesus was but just like us His faith sometimes slipped. Jesus is the One who will take us to the Father, and will give us His victory over death that we might walk free. Love the Lord and serve Jesus.
09/05 Luke 7:16-17
Great fear swept the crowd, and they praised God, saying, “A mighty prophet has risen among us,” and “We have seen the hand of God at work today.” 17 The report of what Jesus had done that day spread all over Judea and even out across its borders.
HEAR
Do you hear what Jesus did? Have you accepted His saving grace? Stop believing the foolishness of the world and follow Jesus. He is Lord.
09/04 Luke 7:11-15
Soon afterward Jesus went with his disciples to the village of Nain, with a great crowd following him. 12 A funeral procession was coming out as he approached the village gate. The boy who had died was the only son of a widow, and many mourners from the village were with her. 13 When the Lord saw her, his heart overflowed with compassion. “Don’t cry!” he said. 14 Then he walked over to the coffin and touched it, and the bearers stopped. “Young man,” he said, “get up.” 15 Then the dead boy sat up and began to talk to those around him! And Jesus gave him back to his mother.
GOD
Jesus is God. He is the Son. Human wisdom cannot fathom this. Our heart knows this and we can say that when we speak with Jesus we have spoken with the Father. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life (John 14:6) and He is our Lord and Savior. Trust Jesus. He is the only way.
09/03 Luke 7:10
And when the officer’s friends returned to his house, they found the slave completely healed.
AMAZING
It is amazing the way the Lord works. He doesn’t need us to accomplish what He chooses to accomplish but we need faith as we live our life day by day. Trust in the Lord in all your ways and do what He says. Give the Lord your heart and He will equip you to glorify the Father. Jesus is Lord.
09/02 Luke 7:6-9
So Jesus went with them. But just before they arrived at the house, the officer sent some friends to say, “Lord, don’t trouble yourself by coming to my home, for I am not worthy of such an honor. 7 I am not even worthy to come and meet you. Just say the word from where you are, and my servant will be healed. 8 I know because I am under the authority of my superior officers, and I have authority over my soldiers. I only need to say, ‘Go,’ and they go, or ‘Come,’ and they come. And if I say to my slaves, ‘Do this or that,’ they do it.” 9 When Jesus heard this, he was amazed. Turning to the crowd, he said, “I tell you, I haven’t seen faith like this in all the land of Israel!”
FAITH
Faith believes. Jesus loves. We need His help and forgiveness. He gives freely. Claim life and light in Jesus. Believe in the Lord and you will be saved.
09/01 Luke 7:1-5
When Jesus had finished saying all this, he went back to Capernaum. 2 Now the highly valued slave of a Roman officer was sick and near death. 3 When the officer heard about Jesus, he sent some respected Jewish leaders to ask him to come and heal his slave. 4 So they earnestly begged Jesus to come with them and help the man. “If anyone deserves your help, it is he,” they said, 5 “for he loves the Jews and even built a synagogue for us.”
LOVE
Jesus loved people. He loves you and me. His love transcends tradition, ethnicity, hate, stupidity, and racial prejudice. God is Love and Jesus shows His love by saving us. We don’t deserve His free gift but we need it and He will give us His free gift of salvation if we ask. Our choice. Choose Jesus.
