Today's Good News

JULY 2 – PLENTY

07/2 2 Kings 4:8-13
One day Elisha went to the town of Shunem. A wealthy woman lived there, and she invited him to eat some food. From then on, whenever he passed that way, he would stop there to eat. 9 She said to her husband, “I am sure this man who stops in from time to time is a holy man of God. 10 Let’s make a little room for him on the roof and furnish it with a bed, a table, a chair, and a lamp. Then he will have a place to stay whenever he comes by.” 11 One day Elisha returned to Shunem, and he went up to his room to rest. 12 He said to his servant Gehazi, “Tell the woman I want to speak to her.” When she arrived, 13 Elisha said to Gehazi, “Tell her that we appreciate the kind concern she has shown us. Now ask her what we can do for her. Does she want me to put in a good word for her to the king or to the commander of the army?” “No,” she replied, “my family takes good care of me.”
PLENTY
Here is a woman that is satisfied with her life, she has plenty and is willing to live with it. The Lord gives many things to us. Are we grateful for the plenty we have or are we always seeking more?

JULY 1 – BELIEVE

07/1 2 Kings 4:1-7
One day the widow of one of Elisha’s fellow prophets came to Elisha and cried out to him, “My husband who served you is dead, and you know how he feared the LORD. But now a creditor has come, threatening to take my two sons as slaves.” 2 “What can I do to help you?” Elisha asked. “Tell me, what do you have in the house?” “Nothing at all, except a flask of olive oil,” she replied. 3 And Elisha said, “Borrow as many empty jars as you can from your friends and neighbors. 4 Then go into your house with your sons and shut the door behind you. Pour olive oil from your flask into the jars, setting the jars aside as they are filled.” 5 So she did as she was told. Her sons brought many jars to her, and she filled one after another. 6 Soon every container was full to the brim!” Bring me another jar,” she said to one of her sons.” There aren’t any more!” he told her. And then the olive oil stopped flowing. 7 When she told the man of God what had happened, he said to her, “Now sell the olive oil and pay your debts, and there will be enough money left over to support you and your sons.”
BELIEVE
The biggest obstacle we face is to believe that the Lord will be affective and effective in our normal daily life. We need to know the Lord. We need to understand that the Lord is more interested in our lives than we are. God loves you and He is seeking for your best good.

JUNE 30 – CHRIST

6/30 Ephesians 5:20-33
And you will always give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. 21 And further, you will submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. 22 You wives will submit to your husbands as you do to the Lord. 23 For a husband is the head of his wife as Christ is the head of his body, the church; he gave his life to be her Savior. 24 As the church submits to Christ, so you wives must submit to your husbands in everything. 25 And you husbands must love your wives with the same love Christ showed the church. He gave up his life for her 26 to make her holy and clean, washed by baptism and God’s word. 27 He did this to present her to himself as a glorious church without a spot or wrinkle or any other blemish. Instead, she will be holy and without fault. 28 In the same way, husbands ought to love their wives as they love their own bodies. For a man is actually loving himself when he loves his wife. 29 No one hates his own body but lovingly cares for it, just as Christ cares for his body, which is the church. 30 And we are his body. 31 As the Scriptures say, “A man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.” 32 This is a great mystery, but it is an illustration of the way Christ and the church are one. 33 So again I say, each man must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.
CHRIST
Christ is all and in all and He wants to help me lead my life. Gratitude is the underlying attitude of a positive life. I am grateful to the Lord, to you, to friends, to family, to work and to play. My life belongs to Jesus and He is everything to me.

JUNE 29 – POSITIVE

6/29 Ephesians 5:18-19
Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, let the Holy Spirit fill and control you. 19 Then you will sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, making music to the Lord in your hearts.
POSITIVE
We have to choose whether we will be positive or negative. If I choose to be negative my life will be difficult. It will hard to be obedient to the Lord because I will feel sorry for myself and refuse to take responsibility for my life. Sin will always have a lever to get me off track. I won’t lose my salvation but I will lose a lot of times when I could have won. Life will not be a joyous place. On the other hand I can choose to be positive. I know the Lord loves me and would that all things work together for good in my life. I will discover that more often than not things will go my way. I choose to be positive-Lord give me peace and joy today.

JUNE 28 – RESPONSIBLE

6/28 Ephesians 5:15-17
So be careful how you live, not as fools but as those who are wise. 16 Make the most of every opportunity for doing good in these evil days. 17 Don’t act thoughtlessly, but try to understand what the Lord wants you to do.
RESPONSIBLE
Sin whispers that I am not responsible- I deserve this, I sacrifice so much, I will change asap. On and on the lies go but the truth is that we are responsible and we must think about how we are living. We serve the Lord and His truth is undeniable. He would that none of us sin and yet I am so quick to sin. Obedience dictates that I change and act responsibly.

JUNE 27 – LIGHT

6/27 Ephesians 5:12-14
It is shameful even to talk about the things that ungodly people do in secret. 13 But when the light shines on them, it becomes clear how evil these things are. 14 And where your light shines, it will expose their evil deeds. This is why it is said, “Awake, O sleeper, rise up from the dead, and Christ will give you light.”
LIGHT
I need to keep the light shining on me. I sin and sin and am slow to react to the Lord’s prompting. I have excuses, not valid but they distract me. Lord shine your light on me. Keep me focused on you. Lord change me and make me more like you.

JUNE 26 – SEEK

6/26 Ephesians 5:10-11
Try to find out what is pleasing to the Lord. 11 Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, rebuke and expose them.
SEEK
Seek the Lord. Seek Him in your quiet time. Seek Him in your Bible Study. Seek Him in your daily life. Walk with the Lord constantly on your mind. Seek the Lord and He will be found. You seek the Lord.

JUNE 25 – SIN

6/25 Ephesians 5:6-9
Don’t be fooled by those who try to excuse these sins, for the terrible anger of God comes upon all those who disobey him. 7 Don’t participate in the things these people do. 8 For though your hearts were once full of darkness, now you are full of light from the Lord, and your behavior should show it! 9 For this light within you produces only what is good and right and true.
SIN
Sin seeks companions. Run from sin. Refute sin’s call. Turn a deaf ear to sin’s reasoning. Follow Jesus. Let Him deal with your sin. Be filled with the Spirit and do not sin. Jesus is Lord.

JUNE 24 – GREEDY

6/24 Ephesians 5:5
You can be sure that no immoral, impure, or greedy person will inherit the Kingdom of Christ and of God. For a greedy person is really an idolater who worships the things of this world.
GREEDY
Lord blot out my sin and help me to change. I do not want to be greedy give me a generous heart. Show me your love and compassion. O Lord strengthen me in my daily walk, equip me to stand in the onslaught of chaos and evil. This is the day the Lord has made. I will rejoice in it.

JUNE 23 – STOP

6/23 Ephesians 5:3
Let there be no sexual immorality, impurity, or greed among you. Such sins have no place among God’s people. 4 Obscene stories, foolish talk, and coarse jokes — these are not for you. Instead, let there be thankfulness to God.
STOP
Stop the way you are living and assess your life. If you are a child of God you need to change. If you do not know the Lord ask Him into your life and change the way you are living. God’s children need to change day by day into Christ likeness.
