Today's Good News

OCT. 15 – 1 PETER 3:8-9

10/15          1 Peter 3:8-9

8 Finally, all of you should be of one mind. Sympathize with each other. Love each other as brothers and sisters. Be tenderhearted and keep a humble attitude.

9 Don’t repay evil for evil. Don’t retaliate with insults when people insult you. Instead, pay them back with a blessing. That is what God has called you to do, and he will grant you his blessing.

OTHERS

We are called to love one another.  That includes enemies and the unlovable.  We are doing the Lord’s work.  Listen to what Jesus says and do it.  That’s what a servant does.

OCT. 14 – JAMES 3:17

10/14          James 3:17

But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and the fruit of good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere

WISDOM

Wisdom comes from God.

We don’t naturally have it.

It’s different than knowledge.

Wisdom guides us in living Godly lives.

Wisdom reminds us of our fragile nature.

Wisdom calls us to humility and sincerity.

We learn from God how much HE loves us.  Wisdom outfits us to become more like Jesus.

OCT. 13 – JAMES 2:13

10/13          James 2:13

There will be no mercy for those who have not shown mercy to others. But if you have been merciful, God will be merciful when he judges you.

REAP

We will reap what we sow.

Don’t be surprised when your actions come home to roost.

No mercy for others-No mercy for you.

Be merciful so that your heavenly Father can be merciful to you.

Do the next right thing.

OCT. 12 – 1 THESS. 5:14-15

10/12          1 Thessalonians 5:14-15

14 Brothers and sisters, we urge you to warn those who are lazy. Encourage those who are timid. Take tender care of those who are weak. Be patient with everyone.

15 See that no one pays back evil for evil, but always try to do good to each other and to all people.

DO

Christian faith is action.

It is getting involved in a helping way.

It is giving of oneself.

It is giving to others in love.

We are our brother’s and sister’s keeper.

We are charged with their best good.

Do unto others.

Jesus loves you.

OCT. 11 – COL. 3:12-14

10/11          Colossians 3:12-14

12 Since God chose you to be the holy people he loves, you must clothe yourselves with tenderhearted mercy, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.

13 Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others.

14 Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds us all together in perfect harmony.

MIRROR

Mirror, mirror on the wall,

How do we stay on the right track?

Act like Jesus.

Do what He says.

Love like He loves.

Act in a way that mirrors Him in every way.

We are called to change,

To be like Jesus.

He is Lord.

OCT. 10 – EPH. 4:31-31

10/10          Ephesians 4:31-32

31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior.

32 Instead, be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God through Christ has forgiven you.

ACTION
Action.  Life is speeding by.  Care for those you are with.  Be kind, tenderhearted and forgiving.  Treat others the way the Lord treats you.

OCT. 9 – GALATIANS 6:7-10

10/09          Galatians 6:7-10

7 Don’t be misled—you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you plant.

8 Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit.

9 So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.

10 Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone—especially to those in the family of faith.

SOW

Sow wisely in the kingdom work.  Sowing involves our service to others.  People will never know how much we love them until we show them how much we care by caring for them.  Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

OCT. 8 – GALATIANS 6:2

10/08          Galatians 6:2

Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ.

PEOPLE

People need you.  You know Jesus and they need to know Him.  Share Jesus by what you say and do.  Care for others.

OCT. 7 – MT. 25:35-40, 45

10/07          Matthew 25:35-40, 45

35 For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home.

36 I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.’

37 “Then these righteous ones will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink?

38 Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing?

39 When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you?’

40 “And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’

45 “And he will answer, ‘I tell you the truth, when you refused to help the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were refusing to help me.’

REAL

Christianity is real activity representing our Lord Jesus Christ in this world.  We are His hands and feet.  We minister unto the welfare of those we meet.  Every time I meet someone, I have an opportunity to be the representative of the Lord God Almighty.  Jesus loves you and me and calls us to love one another.  Love is an action word, not a noun.  Care for people.

OCT. 6 – MATTHEW 23:23

10/06          Matthew 23:23

“What sorrow awaits you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you are careful to tithe even the tiniest income from your herb gardens, but you ignore the more important aspects of the law—justice, mercy, and faith. You should tithe, yes, but do not neglect the more important things.

PEOPLE

People count.

What they need, have and are count.

We are our brother’s keeper.

Forgive.  Help others.  Be kind.  Honor family.  Love God.
