Today's Good News

APRIL 13 – MARK 15:16-24

04/13          Mark 15:16-24

16 The soldiers took Jesus into the courtyard of the governor’s headquarters (called the Praetorium) and called out the entire regiment. 17 They dressed him in a purple robe, and they wove thorn branches into a crown and put it on his head. 18 Then they saluted him and taunted, “Hail! King of the Jews!”  19 And they struck him on the head with a reed stick, spit on him, and dropped to their knees in mock worship.  20 When they were finally tired of mocking him, they took off the purple robe and put his own clothes on him again. Then they led him away to be crucified. 21 A passerby named Simon, who was from Cyrene, was coming in from the countryside just then, and the soldiers forced him to carry Jesus’ cross. (Simon was the father of Alexander and Rufus.) 22 And they brought Jesus to a place called Golgotha (which means “Place of the Skull”). 23 They offered him wine drugged with myrrh, but he refused it.  24 Then the soldiers nailed him to the cross. They divided his clothes and threw dice to decide who would get each piece.

JESUS

Jesus sacrificed and died so that we could have salvation-life like God’s.  It was hard to do, it was a God event in human flesh.  He lived among us and died for us.  Jesus is Lord.

APRIL 12 – MARK 15:1-11

04/12          Mark 15:1-11

Very early in the morning the leading priests, the elders, and the teachers of religious law—the entire high council —met to discuss their next step. They bound Jesus, led him away, and took him to Pilate, the Roman governor. Pilate asked Jesus, “Are you the king of the Jews?” Jesus replied, “You have said it.”  Then the leading priests kept accusing him of many crimes, and Pilate asked him, “Aren’t you going to answer them? What about all these charges they are bringing against you?”

But Jesus said nothing, much to Pilate’s surprise. Now it was the governor’s custom each year during the Passover celebration to release one prisoner—anyone the people requested. One of the prisoners at that time was Barabbas, a revolutionary who had committed murder in an uprising. The crowd went to Pilate and asked him to release a prisoner as usual. “Would you like me to release to you this ‘King of the Jews’?” Pilate asked. 10 (For he realized by now that the leading priests had arrested Jesus out of envy.) 11 But at this point the leading priests stirred up the crowd to demand the release of Barabbas instead of Jesus.

EVIL
Evil seeks to rule by destruction.  Do not let destruction rule you.  Jesus is the Creator and destruction is not part of His plan.  His plan was to show his love, God’s love, to you.  Do not let the evil one destroy you.  Surrender your life to Jesus.  He is Lord.

APRIL 11 – MARK 11:7-10

04/11          Mark 11:7-10

Then they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their garments over it, and he sat on it. Many in the crowd spread their garments on the road ahead of him, and others spread leafy branches they had cut in the fields. Jesus was in the center of the procession, and the people all around him were shouting, “Praise God! Blessings on the one who comes in the name of the LORD ! 10 Blessings on the coming Kingdom of our ancestor David! Praise God in highest heaven!”

The Galileans were here on this part of the Mount of Olives this Palm Sunday.

Jesus rode a donkey.  The king.

Palms spread.  The people praising God.  Their king was here.

Is Jesus your king?  If not, listen to Him and invite Him into your heart.

Praise God.  He gives us every blessing.

APRIL 9 – JOHN 12:12-15

04/09 John 12:12-15
12 The next day, the news that Jesus was on the way to Jerusalem swept through the city. A large crowd of Passover visitors 13 took palm branches and went down the road to meet him. They shouted, “Praise God! Blessings on the one who comes in the name of the LORD ! Hail to the King of Israel!” 14 Jesus found a young donkey and rode on it, fulfilling the prophecy that said: 15 “Don’t be afraid, people of Jerusalem. Look, your King is coming, riding on a donkey’s colt.”
JESUS
Jesus comes in the name of the Lord. In fact, He is God in the flesh. He came for us so that we could know about God and about how much God loves us. HE is our king. He is Lord. Follow Him.

8 The women ran quickly from the tomb. They were very frightened but also filled with great joy, and they rushed to give the disciples the angel’s message. 9 And as they went, Jesus met them and greeted them. And they ran to him, grasped his feet, and worshiped him. 10 Then Jesus said to them, “Don’t be afraid! Go tell my brothers to leave for Galilee, and they will see me there.” 11 As the women were on their way, some of the guards went into the city and told the leading priests what had happened.

APRIL 4 – MARK 16:11-16, 19-20

04/04 Mark 16:11-16; 19-20
11 But when she told them that Jesus was alive and she had seen him, they didn’t believe her. 12 Afterward he appeared in a different form to two of his followers who were walking from Jerusalem into the country. 13 They rushed back to tell the others, but no one believed them. 14 Still later he appeared to the eleven disciples as they were eating together. He rebuked them for their stubborn unbelief because they refused to believe those who had seen him after he had been raised from the dead. 15 And then he told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone. 16 Anyone who believes and is baptized will be saved. But anyone who refuses to believe will be condemned. 19 When the Lord Jesus had finished talking with them, he was taken up into heaven and sat down in the place of honor at God’s right hand. 20 And the disciples went everywhere and preached, and the Lord worked through them, confirming what they said by many miraculous signs.
CHOICE
Do we choose Jesus or do we ignore Him. There is no fence sitting in the family of God. He is Lord and He is in charge.
